Chinese Imari

Primarily made during the early eighteenth century, this unique porcelain, inspired by Japanese Imari, was very different from traditional Chinese porcelain. It imitated the Japanese through the use of color, especially the use of red. Designs mostly included floral motifs. The blue is underglaze and the gold and iron red (rouge de fer) is overglaze.
